Kwihala Tented Camp

CEDARBERG RATING

Overview

With just six simple but luxurious guest tents set in this untouched frontier, Kwihala Tented Camp is the most remote and intimate of Asilia Africa’s safari camps. Kwihala prides itself on its high standard of guiding and the camp’s guides are renowned amongst safari enthusiasts for their intimate knowledge of nature and the particular wonders of Ruaha. The area is terrific for big cats, including prides of lion and leopard, the latter frequently up in the tall and majestic Baobab and Sausage Trees which abound nearby.

To explore Ruaha is to return to a place more truly wild than you have ever known. Situated far from other camps in Ruaha, you will see little if any human activity and be able to absorb the wild in exclusivity. Game drives at Kwihala Tented Camp can be taken in vehicles or on foot under the guidance of our specialist walking guides who will bring you closer the wild than you’ve ever been before. This is often a thrilling experience in an area renowned for its concentration of predators and big game. But you need not even move from camp as game often passes through Kwihala, exposed as it is to the wild.

Accomodation

The six comfortable but stylish Kwihala tents have a contemporary style of authentic camping. Outside, you have a shaded veranda with traditional safari chairs where you can sit back and relax with a good book or be on the look out for any game passing by. Inside are 'proper' beds (twin or double), floor rugs, bedside tables, space for luggage and hanging space. The bathrooms (or shower rooms) are equally spacious and furnished with all the facilities of a modern bathroom, with flush toilets and safari 'bucket' shower.

Gather in the main tented lounge area or dining room for drinks and mealtimes, where you can swap exciting tales of game-viewing from your day's activities. Meals are often served outside beside the campfire, accompanied only by the stirring night sounds of the bush.
