Overview

andBeyond Klein's Camp is situated in the far northern part of the Serengeti. With its prime position you can view the great wildlife migration that so many people travel here to experience. In addition, it is located in its own 10,000 ha private wildlife sanctuary with no other lodge for miles and miles. The camp is perched on the Kuka Hills, just south of the Masai Mara, along the ancient wildebeest migration route. It is bordered to the north by the Masai Mara and by the Serengeti in the west. This is the perfect camp for witnessing the return route of the migration in particular as they head south from mid October to November.

Overlooking the wooded hillsides, rolling grasslands, marshes and forested riverbanks of the Serengeti, Klein's Camp is one of the best located wildlife sanctuaries. Set on the edge of the hills, the ten intimate rock and thatch cottages command breath-taking views of the valley below, through which huge herds of wildebeest and zebra migrate annually through the Serengeti.

Accommodation and facilities at andBeyond Klein's Camp

All ten cottages have polished wooden floors with a cool and serene interior décor. After a morning's game drive and brunch, kick back and relax in the deep leather armchairs from the comfort of your private terrace. A swimming pool and pool deck is tucked into the hillside. In the evening, you gather around blazing fireplaces to share the adventures of the day and swap tales of the thrills of game viewing in the Serengeti. Mouth-watering aromas drift from the camp kitchen, inviting you to the candlelit open dining area where dinner is served.

Game Viewing

Though the great migration is an annual highlight, its exact timing cannot be predicted or guaranteed. Luckily there is plenty of resident game in the Serengeti with huge herds of buffalo and elephant attracting lion, leopard and cheetah. Birding in the seasonal marshland is very rewarding with several species of raptor breeding in the cliffs above Klein’s Camp.

Given its private concession in the Serengeti, Klein’s Camp is unique in offering night game drives and bush walks. Driving off-road in open game-viewing vehicles is also permitted. Maasai trackers accompany all game drives and on bush walks. They offer an interesting insight into the medicinal use of plants. Bush breakfasts and dinners at spectacular locations are a speciality at Kleins Camp. Furthermore, community visits can be arranged to gain an insight into the culture of the Maasai.

Children at andBeyond Klein's Camp

Children can participate in game drives at the guide's discretion from the age of 6. Over 12's may join bush walks. Younger kids are welcome and child-minding is offered.
