Fundu Lagoon on the south-west of Pemba is a stylish resort hidden among indigenous trees on the edge of 4km of white sand on a sweeping bay. The island is reached by scheduled flight from Zanzibar, then a road and boat transfer. 16 en suite tented rooms and suites, with nets and fans, are set under makuti thatch on wooden decks. Half are on a hillside with the remainder along the beachfront; all with ocean views and connected to the main buildings by forest walkways. Four suites have private plunge pools and chill decks.
