Makweti Game Lodge | South Africa

[South Africa Hotels and Accommodation]
Makweti Game Lodge is a luxurious private game lodge in the pristine 33,000ha Welgevonden private game reserve of the Waterberg, which offers malaria-free Big 5 game-viewing including the largest number of white rhino on a private reserve, and over 300 bird species. Situated over 1500m above sea level, Makweti Game Lodge overlooks a dramatic gorge surrounded by the rolling grassland of the beautiful Waterberg. With only six chalets it offers a very personal and exclusive safari experience. Activities include morning and afternoon 4x4 game drives in the company of an experienced ranger, as well as game walks.

Each bijoux chalet has a Victorian bathtub, large indoor and outdoor showers, fireplace and lovely viewing deck with breath-taking views of the bushveld below. The luxurious Indaba Suite encompasses a beautiful lounge, bedroom and lookout deck. The main lodge reflects its African heritage with antique artefacts and hand-beaded fabrics. Candle-lit dinners are served in the romantic dining room or in the starlit boma. Other facilities include a rock swimming pool, library, bar, lounge and large sundeck. Transfers from Johannesburg take 3 hours by road or 35 minutes by charter flight.
