The River Club is a small luxury lodge, 18 km upstream from Victoria Falls on the banks of the Zambezi river. It enjoys sweeping views across the mighty Zambezi to the Zambezi National Park. The River Club has a distinct Edwardian flavour, with many sepia pictures of the original homestead, chintz sofas and a mellow colonial dιcor. The 10 luxurious thatched chalets can be left completely open to the front giving superb views to the river. They are cooled by fans and have a romantic bathroom with shower and 'ball and claw' bath placed so that you can enjoy the river views whilst you laze in the bath. The overall impression is very fresh and light.
Public areas at The River Club include a stylish rimflow pool and the homestead with its dining room, lounge (with an interesting library area) and covered veranda. Dining is usually a communal affair and takes place on the terrace, whilst lunch is on the lawn under the trees. The advantage of staying at River Club is to be able to enjoy the sights of the Victoria Falls in a peaceful and tranquil setting. It is a fully inclusive experience. Guided trips to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls are a highlight of your stay whilst boating or canoeing provides a relaxed afternoon activity on the Zambezi river. Sundowner trips are also on offer as are very popular visits to a local village. A rich birdlife is on offer and elephant and hippos are regularly sighted and heard along the river as the Zambezi National Park is on the opposite river bank Less energetic pursuits include fly-fishing or an afternoon of bridge or croquet on the lawn or just relaxing by the swimming pool.

Kate visited River Club in September 2006: "The River Club is, in many ways, the most upmarket lodge in Victoria Falls area and is highly recommended, though it is on the expensive side. Its style is completely different from Tongabezi Lodge, which has a wilder ambience, so that each lodge suits different people.
River Club has a distinct colonial flavour. Ten luxurious thatched chalets overlook the Zambezi River The rooms are all completely open in the front giving you the best possible views of the Zambezi (but concertina shutters are being added so you can close the room at night if you prefer). They have full electricity with ceiling fans to enhance the cooling river breezes. River Club has a gorgeous rimflow swimming pool overlooking the Zambezi.
Peter Johnson is a very hands-on manager so things run very smoothly at The River Club.
However if the colonial ambience is not your style, don't stay at River Club
You could combine the River Club with Sindabezi Island for a complete contrast"
