Eagle Island Camp at Xaxaba, lies in the southern central part of the Okavango Delta. The word Xaxaba means 'island of tall trees', neatly placing this luxury-tented camp. The island and its surrounds are home to elephant, red letchwe, buffalo, giraffe, shy Sitatunga and the rare Pel's fishing owl, with game viewing by mokoro and boat (water levels permitting), as well as walking trails. This fine birding area, one of the Delta's most pristine, is a region of myriad waterways, palm-treed islands and vast flood plains, attracting fish eagles, herons, egrets and kingfishers. Accommodation is in 12 air-conditioned luxury tents, en suite with private viewing decks. The lodge has a bar, pool and viewing deck at the lagoon. |
