The Lake Malawi camps are on Mumbo Island and Domwe Island. Both are luxuriously rustic and private, being in an exclusive concession. Accommodation is in large safari tents on thatched wooden decks, overlooking the lake, where multi-coloured cichlid fish put on a show for snorkellers. Enjoy kayaking, scuba diving, swimming, snorkelling, nature trails and bird watching, while a personal shady hammock or a secluded beach are perfect retreats for those wanting to unwind and relax. Each evening you paddle around the headland with bottles of local Kuche Kuche beer to watch the sky turn scarlet, accompanied by the sound of mewing fish eagles and splashing otters. Easly accessible by a shortcanoe ride from Cape Maclear near Club Makalola for 2-3 nights or more. (NB: for environmental reasons the loos are not en suite).
