Le Meridien Ku Chawe Inn | Malawi

[Malawi Hotels and Accommodation]
A small road winds up to the top of the Zomba plateau. Nestled on the plateau’s edge lies the Le Meridien Ku Chawe Inn, a comfortable mountain inn with 40 newly refurbished en suite rooms with fireplaces. Surrounded by well-established gardens, it commands sweeping views across the African Rift Valley. Right at your doorstep is the tranquil forest reserve, a unique high tropical microclimate, with plenty of opportunity for walks, horse riding and fly-fishing. All in all, a well-managed hotel with good food and friendly service.

Ginny and Ian visited Ku Chawe Inn: "Zomba Plateau is a definite 'must' on a Malawi itinerary. The views from the plateau walks are stunning, it is a very pleasant climate and the vegetation is lush with pretty waterfalls and dams. The Ku Chawe Inn on the top of the plateau is very comfortable and attractive and the market in Zomba town is good. The hotel's security guard doubles as a walking guide. This is definitely worth taking advantage of, as there are lots of roads and tracks and few signs! Maybe after a couple of orientation walks it would be okay to hire the mountain bikes in the hotel lobby, but not as a first venture for the foreign visitor.

Ku Chawe Inn has been re-built after a bad fire. Luckily a good architect must have been used so the new buildings are very pleasing and comfortable and blend very well into the established gardens. The standard rooms should be avoided. They do have the best views but this is not enough compensation in my book. The other two room types are fine, with nice dιcor and lovely log fires."
