Reilly's Rock Lodge, in the Mlilwane National Park in Swaziland, is the utterly captivating former homestead of conservationist Ted Reilly. Enjoying commanding views of Mlilwane's game-studded plains, its atmosphere is one of complete peace and tranquillity. The colonial homestead has a colourful pioneer history and has been sympathetically restored with great attention to period detail. Accommodation consists of six beautifully furnished bedrooms including a charming cottage with two en suite bedrooms, a sitting room with fireplace and wraparound veranda - ideal for two couples travelling together. Breakfast on the veranda, listening to the sounds of the birds, is a magical experience.

The lodge overlooks the central plains and is solidly built of stone. Accommodation consists of six bedrooms - two standard rooms, which only have private rather than ensuite bathrooms, two superior en suite rooms and a two bedroom cottage. Dinner is served in quite a formal dining room which suits the atmosphere of the lodge and is a simple three course meal. It takes about 2 hours to reach the reserve from the Golela border post with the drive becoming increasingly scenic towards the mountains. You should avoid arriving after dark as the lodge has a hillside position and the signs to the lodge are difficult to see clearly, even in daylight. Another reason for arriving during the day is to savour the enchanting atmosphere of the lodge over sundowners on the terrace.
