Ongava Game Reserve is a private 30,000ha reserve on the southern boundary of Etosha National Park Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into Etosha, as well as night drives and nature walks in their private reserve. Ongava Tented Camp is a classic safari camp where guests sleep in traditional Meru tents. The camp’s bar and dining area is built out of rock and thatch and has an intimate feel. Drinks and dinner can be enjoyed around the camp fire and swimming pool. Every tent is tastefully furnished with its own en-suite thatched bathroom and unique open air private shower. Your private deck offers spectacular views over the wilderness. The waterhole attracts a variety of animals and birds and is especially interesting in the evenings when floodlights illuminate the area.
With its resident White and Black Rhino, rhino tracking on foot is one of the most popular activities at Ongava. Guesta also have the chance to see elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and the plains species. Keen birders may see various species from a Pygmy Falcon to some of Namibia’s endemic species such as Hartlaub’s Francolin, the Barecheeked Babbler or Ruppel’s Parrot.

Kate visited Ongava Tented Camp in November: "We liked this camp as it was right in the bush overlooking an active waterhole: lions had been at the waterhole on the previous evening, and it had a warm authentic feel to it. There are ten tents including a family tent with two rooms and two bathrooms. There’s a honeymoon tent which is exactly the same in size but with a double bed and wooden rather than rattan furniture (slightly smarter). The only disadvantage is that the pool deck and sitting area was small. Also note that it is 20km from the gate and it would take approx 45mins to get there for self-drive clients (as opposed to 20 mins for Main Lodge or Little Ongava). So we recommend this camp in winter when the need for a large pool is not important."
