Tintswalo Safari Lodge and Manor House | South Africa

[South Africa Hotels and Accommodation]
Tintswalo Safari Lodge is one of only two private concessions in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve which has open borders to the Kruger to the east and joins the Sabi Sands to the south. This ultra-luxurious lodge makes full use of its setting overlooking the seasonal river bed where game often comes to drink. There is a wide teak deck which runs the length of the lodge. Each of the six suites, built of beautiful grey stone, is set well apart and comprises a romantic bedroom decorated in colonial style, a spacious dressing area, a large bathroom with ball and claw bath and separate shower. Large doors take you out to your private deck with sun loungers and private plunge pool. The dramatic entrance to the main lodge is reminiscent of Great Zimbabwe with intricate stonework. Inside it is opulently decorated with a spacious living area, dining room, private wine cellar (perfect for intimate dinners). In addition there’s a two bedroom Presidential Suite which can be completely separate from the rest of the lodge. This suite comes with its own ranger and in-house chef and is the only part of the lodge which takes children.

A little distance away is Tintswalo Manor House which is a little gem of a great for family parties or groups of friends. The Manor House is a rather a grand name for a comfortable private homestead in the bush overlooking an active waterhole. It is taken as a whole by one party (with a minimum of 4 people) and comes with your own ranger and your own cook.

The homestead has a sitting room, full kitchen, shaded veranda with outside dining and sitting area. The simple garden is fenced off from the bush and so is safe for children to play in and has a swimming pool. The house has five bedrooms. Downstairs there are three en suite bedrooms all prettily decorated to a comfortable standard. One of these bedrooms has an adjoining children's room with two single beds (therefore not en suite). One of the bedrooms has a separate entrance from the outside and is ideal for someone seeking a little more privacy such as a teenager or a nanny. Upstairs is the main en suite bedroom. Though it is not larger or more stylish it does have the added benefit of a balcony with sun chairs overlooking the bushveld. It is important to note that the homestead is not decorated in the style of a lodge but more like a comfortable family home. However Manor house guests may also enjoy the facilities of the spa at the Tintswalo Main Safari lodge if they wish. Children under 12 years staying at the Manor House are permitted on game drive, but at the discretion of the guide. However children under the age of 16 are not permitted on game walks. A special children's programme is available which offers a fun, educational bush experience.
