Quilalea island is uninhabited except for the nine private and spacious villas, constructed with indigenous materials and handcrafted timber, opening onto a private veranda with panoramic sea views over the ocean. Various activities include spectacular snorkelling and scuba diving (even from the beach), kayaking and dhow sailing along the mangrove channels, and bird and whale watching in season (July to November). Deep sea sport fishing, and day trips to historic Ibo Island can also be arranged. Sunrise and Sunset over the sea can be enjoyed from different parts of the main lodge where fresh fish & seafood is prepared in the traditional Mozambican style and complimented with fine South African wines. Alfresco lunches and dinners are also served on pristine beaches around the island. Above all, this is a rare opportunity to dive in a pristine, undeveloped and largely unexplored area.

Ginny stayed here in May 2007: "Quilalea is a small, compact island resort with a house reef that means that it's possible to dive and snorkel straight from the beach. The best room is room 9, which has a ladder straight into the water. Other than the house reef, one of the key plus points of Quilalea is the Spa pavilion, with its tidal pool."
