Marataba Safari Camp | South Africa

[South Africa Hotels and Accommodation]
Marataba Safari Camp is an exclusive 23,000ha concession within the Marakele National Park at the foot of the beautiful Waterberg mountains. Marataba lies on the ancient trade route through southern Africa. This malaria-free reserve offers a dramatic landscape of vast plains, dense bushveld, winding rivers, deep gorges and soaring mountains. Marataba, meaning 'a place of sanctuary', is a refuge for Africa's Big Five and a multitude of other animal species including rare antelope such as roan, sable and mountain reedbuck which can be seen on game drives and bush walks. Marataba is home to the world's largest breeding colony of the endangered Cape vulture. Birdlife within the park is prolific with more than 400 species having been recorded.

This fine game lodge is reminiscent of the Great Zimbabwe ruins with much use of indigenous stone juxtaposed with huge glass walls. Marataba embraces both the contemporary and the ancient in an exciting union of innovative architecture and design. Inside the vibrant colours of Africa ornament the stylish main lodge. The 15 luxurious canvas and stone suites are exquisitely furnished and decorated Each has an en-suite stone bathroom with shower and bath as well as a double vanity basin and dressing room. Outside there’s an outdoor shower and a private deck overlooking the sweeping plains and meandering river below. Member of Relais & Chateaux. A Hunter Hotels property.
