Ginny stayed here in May 2007:
"Matemo is a relatively large island with about four villages and a community of about 1500. The resort is quite large and can take incentive groups but the ambience is relatively quiet and restrained. The buffet lunch was delicious, even at 2 pm but it is all down to fresh, fresh fish.
Reef snorkelling costs from US$25, diving from US$50 to $75. The cruise to Ibo island is very popular at US$65.There are 7 dive sites 6 to 12km from Matemo at depths from 8m to over 40m. The decor is Moorish and very acceptable in both guest and public rooms. Guest rooms are new with totally modern bathrooms using quartz and slate tiles alongside the dark wood. They are quite small and in 'semi-detached' pairs, joined at the edge of each deck, beyond the private dining area. The opposite end of the deck has an outside shower, leading back into the bathroom. There is more seating outside than in, with two teak armchairs and a hammock on the deck and teak loungers on the beach under a thatched shade. Meals are generally buffet with fish and meat grilled to order but these are interspersed with a la carte dining and dining venues are varied."
