Meno a Kwena Camp is situated on the high cliffs overlooking the dry Boteti River on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Southern Africa's largest remaining zebra and wildebeest herds, dependant on regular drinking water, migrate within the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans ecosystem and the camp is situated in the midst of this traditional migration route with plentiful wildlife, especially during the zebra and wildebeest migration, drinking along the riverbed during the dry season (May to November) as well as their accompanying predators. Birding is excellent year round especially during the summer months (September to May).
The rustic, but stylish, camp has been created with a mix of authentic safari mood with a traditional rural African touch. The viewing area high up on white cliffs is the centrepiece of the Meno A Kwena experience, as are the views down to the Boteti riverbed from the accommodation tents which are also pitched on the cliffs. Meru tents, each with its own bucket shower and loo, offer an authentic safari experience in this rustic but stylish camp. The living/dining area is under a large canvas roof where traditional safari meals are served.
Wildlife viewing by 4x4 safari vehicle varies depending on where the seasonal wildlife is concentrated for water and food. Experienced and knowledgeable guides lead safari excursions to three different Kalahari wilderness areas within the Makgadikgadi area, depending on the wildlife movements. An impressive packed picnic lunch and drinks are provided for these safaris. There is actually no need to leave the camp during the dry season as most of the wildlife in the area will drink from the waterhole at camp. This is a perfect opportunity for you to take a break from game drives and to sit quietly and watch the wildlife from the comfort of the camp.
