Les Cascades de Bantry Bay is an elegant lodge perched on the hillside below Lion's Head in Cape Town. This exclusive area is reminiscent of the Italian Riviera – with glamorous houses cascading down to the Atlantic Ocean below. Sweeping sea views, on several levels, set the scene at Les Cascades with 10 rooms in two separate buildings. The luxurious Main Lodge offers 6 deluxe rooms and superior suites with marble bathrooms. The more modest Villa below has a further four rooms. All rooms incorporate strong elements of contemporary art, latticed shutters covering large bay windows, sea views and private balconies. Each have air-conditioning, king-size beds and sitting areas. Satellite TV, CD player and safes are standard.
The top building has an open plan sitting room and outdoor eating area under a pergola. Below the swimming pool you come to the Villa with its large open plan sitting/dining room and its own swimming pool. (This is where meals for all rooms are served in the winter months.) The main difference is the size of the rooms and the more modest bathroom. Dine at the stylish a la carte restaurant at the Villa or alfresco at the Main Lodge.
Please note that given the number of steps/different levels, the lodge may not be suitable for frailer people.

Mrs Orchard stayed there in July 2007: "Loved this place. What a superb choice for our first 4 nights. Els made an extremely thoughtful hostess and helped make our twins' 21st birthday a really memorable occasion. The food was excellent and they also gave us 2 very good restaurant reservations, first Manolo's but more particularly Ginja's. I would love to go back sometime."
Kate visited Les Cascades in August: "Les Cascades offers excellent accommodation in a stunning setting at a value-for-money price. It is located right at the top of Bantry Bay heading towards Clifton. You can even walk to Clifton Beach from here (10 to 15mins) though it’s uphill on the way back so some people catch a taxi on the way back! The setting is reminiscent of the Italian Riviera – very glamorous with houses perched on the mountainside. The lodge is on several (5 or 6) levels, though you can access it from the bottom or the top, so not suitable for frail people. Each room has a seaview. In the top part of the lodge (Main House) there are Deluxe rooms and Superior (1 of each on each floor). These are very spacious with marble bathrooms. They accept children and place them on the floor which is closest to the pool. These 2 (family) rooms have an alcove area where they can put an extra bed. They also have steps from their private balconies down to the pool so that children don’t need to come into the house with wet towels. There is an open plan sitting room and outdoor eating area under a pergola. They do meals every evening but alternate between a light supper and a proper dinner. One level down from the top swimming pool you come to the Villa. The villa rooms are more modest but still very good standard and still with seaviews. The main difference is the room size, quality of furnishings and simpler bathroom. There’s a junior suite which has a sleeper couch for children. The villa has a large open plan sitting/dining area and this is where meals for all rooms are served in the winter. Recommended for all except people who can't manage stairs very well."
