Steenberg Hotel & Wine Estate | South Africa

[South Africa Hotels and Accommodation]
The Cape Dutch manor house of Steenberg Hotel & Spa was built in the tranquil Constantia Valley in 1682, and is now a gracious boutique hotel. The buildings of Steenberg have been lovingly restored to their former glory and are a National Monument. In the Manor House, rooms are furnished with antiques and in a style reminiscent of the 17th century, some with their own lounges. The Premier rooms are modern with open plan bathrooms and romantic free standing baths. Many of the rooms have private patios. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobes and Charlotte Rhys toiletries. Children are welcome with sleeper couches sleeping 1 or 2 children, interleading rooms and two rooms with a third bed. TGCSA 5 star hotel.

Steenberg aims to combine three key elements in one hotel - Food and Wine, Spa and Golf. The hotel's massive grounds allow for two swimming pools, a pool bar, large terrace and the very popular Spa offering massage and beauty treatments during your stay. Steenberg's wines are gaining great acclaim and you can visit the highly regarded winery for a complimentary wine-tasting or taste their wines at Steenberg's restaurant, Catharina's, which has won awards for its sophisticated, contemporary South African cuisine created by Executive Chef Garth Almazan. It offers a warm, sophisticated ambience with the accent on beautiful wood, soft lighting, and elegant table appointments. The luxurious, leather clad Cigar Bar offer a selection of delicious cocktails and a fine selection of cigars.

Surrounded by vineyards, Steenberg’s parkland 18 hole golf course lies in the verdant Constantia valley with mountain and forest views. Designed by Peter Matkovich, you enjoy some testing and varied golf with tee boxes amongst the vines, much use of water, and natural sand banks in the heathland.

Kate stayed here in September:
"There’s a strong argument for choosing to stay either on the Atlantic coast or in the vineyards of Constantia when you stay in Cape Town. Both have equally captivating locations. This is one of my favourite hotels in Cape Town: I just love the wide open setting surrounded by vineyards which stretch up to the slopes of Table Mountain. The ambience and sense of history surrounded the beautiful old buildings is palpable."
