Wilderness Manor, on the Garden Route, has a stunning setting overlooking Wilderness Lagoon, yet within walking distance of the beach. This exquisitely decorated lodge has an ambience of serenity and style. Oriental rugs, antiques, hundred of books and original art give the dιcor a successful Afro-colonial style. Relax in a spacious guest lounge, the billiard or the reading room. The four en suite bedrooms are similarly decorated with Indonesian chairs and chests, leather sofas, slipper baths and four poster beds. Each has a TV, telephone, tea trays and minibar. Three deluxe rooms have superb lagoon views whilst the fourth has a garden view onto a private patio. Breakfast is an equally stylish affair. Johan and Marianne are attentive yet discreet hosts. They'll tell you all about the delights of the area from canoeing up the Touw River, bird-watching on the lagoon, walking on the many trails or mountain biking. It is a five minute walk along the lagoon boardwalk to the beach, the village centre and various excellent local restaurants.

Mr W, Cumbria, November: "The accommodation was totally different and of an excellent standard. The hosts Marianne and Johan were most obliging and suggested many things to do and places to visit. The thoroughly enjoyed the meals at Palms, the Riverside Kitchen and in particular at Serendipity (we can't recall ever having a better meal anywhere!)"
