The gracious Cape Dutch buildings of the Spier Hotel and Estate were built in 1692 and have now been restored to their former glory. 32 double-storey Cape-style cottages are clustered around courtyards, pools and gardens and are designed to recreate the intimate, relaxed atmosphere of a small village. The 155 spacious rooms and suites are decorated in an unassuming manner with simple elegant wooden furniture. The landscaped grounds of the Spier Hotel offer myriad activities such as horse riding through the vineyards, tennis, hiking, swimming, golf or even visiting the Cheetah Outreach project and Bird of Prey rehabilitation centre. The estate is a cultural centre, with an art collection, an open air theatre and four restaurants including the acclaimed alfresco African restaurant, Moyos. Alternatively the Camelot Spa provides a variety of massage and holistic treatments. The Spier Hotel is very child-friendly with lots of activities for the children on the estate, lots of space to run around and spacious rooms, some interleading for families.
