Lebala Camp | Botswana
[Botswana Hotels and Accommodation] |
|
Lebala means ‘wide open spaces’ and the surrounding scenery is dominated by vast plains scattered with Ilala palms. The endless vistas and excellent game-viewing make Lebala one of the finest wilderness camps in Africa with sightings of elephant, hippo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, tsessebe, roan, sable, buffalo and the ever present predators; wild dog, lion, cheetah and hyena. In particular the lions of Kwando are infamous for elephant, hippo and buffalo kills.
The eight spacious tents are on a raised teak deck, laid out with maximum comfort and privacy in mind. The tents have an entrance foyer with a reading and writing area, en-suite bathrooms with Victorian ball and claw bathtubs and double vanity. The bathrooms lead out to a reed enclosed open-air shower. Activities include bush walks and day and night drives. After dark, spotlights are switched on and the game drives focus on nocturnal sightings of rare and elusive species such as leopard, selous mongoose, small spotted genet, and aardwolf, to name a few. Nocturnal bird species that are encountered include the Natal nightjar, pennant-winged nightjar and a large variety of owls. |
