Kwara Camp lies in the remote northern part of the Okavango Delta within the private Kwara concession. It is a magnificent wilderness area in excess of 1,700 square kilometres bordering the Moremi Reserve encompassing a wide diversity of habitats, from permanent water with reed-lined lagoons and channels, to open grasslands, woodlands and palm-fringed islands. Luxury en suite tents are built on raised teak decks, overlooking a vast floodplain within a grove of huge African Ebony trees. Each tent has its own viewing deck, private en suite facilities including hot and cold running showers, flush toilets and modern amenities. Guests enjoy a diverse wildlife experience all year round - gliding silently through crystal-clear waterways in a mokoro, bird watching (kingfishers, pygmy geese, fish eagles and the elusive Pels fishing owl), fishing, walking on one of the many palm-fringed islands and taking part in spectacular night drives.
Alongside the other Kwando Safaris camps, Kwara is one of the few Delta camps which welcomes children and offers a comprehensive bush safari experience for them. The programmes are different for each family based on the ages, sexes and interests of the children. They are not only amused but learn a great deal under the Kwando guides' expert supervision. The guide will do a junior rangers course with teenagers and activities like spoor castings, using spotlights, fishing, animal and bush identification, greeting card making out of natural materials for the younger kids. |
