Karukareb Wilderness Reserve lies at the end of a pretty and secluded valley at the foot of the Cedarberg Wilderness Area, in the shadow of Kradadouw mountain. This is a very beautiful spot surrounded by the untouched beauty of the Cedarberg, with its dramatically rock formations and fascinating Bushmen (San) history. The pretty town of Clanwilliam lies approx 20 minutes drive away.
Activities include guided horseback rides, walking trails; mountain biking; swimming in the pool or in clear mountain rockpools. Elegantly decorated in an African-Colonial style, Karukareb Lodge exudes a tranquil charm. The homestead has five air-conditioned en suite bedrooms with wooden floors, soft natural shades and good linen. Theres a large sitting/dining room with a fireplace for the winter evenings.
There are also five luxury tented rooms, quietly situated alongside the river with glorious mountain views. All are en suite with Victorian bath and shower. Wonderful for those who prefer a closer encounter with nature yet in style and comfort. Dinners are simple affairs prepared with fresh organic ingredients.
