Colona Castle | South Africa

[South Africa Hotels and Accommodation]
Gracing the mountainside above a tranquil lake on the warm False Bay side of Cape Town (with its warmer water for swimming), Colona Castle is a splendid Mediterranean villa offering character, exclusivity and infinite charm. Majestic views stretch from Table Mountain across the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands to False Bay and the South Atlantic Ocean. All the suites and interiors are furnished with treasured antiques and objets d'art collected over many years. Four sumptuous suites, one family suite and three superior bedrooms are spacious and individually decorated. Lunches are served at the swimming pool during summer and dinners in the candlelit dining hall overlook the shimmering lights of the city. Alternatively there are many excellent restaurants nearby. In the winter months you can settle down around the beautiful open hearth log fires and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Leisure options include mountain or beach walks (perhaps amongst the wild flora in the Silvermine nature Reserve), watersports and whale-watching. There are four golf courses within easy reach of Colona Castle. TBCSA 5 star Guest Lodge.

Kate visited Colona Castle in July:
"I visited Colona Castle a few years ago and at that point the owners’ collection of objets d’art and antiques was so extensive that it detracted from the ambience. However her fascinating collection is now more under control and the lodge is looking stunning. However this lodge is not for someone looking for a clean cut contemporary look! The rooms all vary extensively in size, amenities and price – the suites are very spacious and luxuriously furnished with antiques, however there are some very attractive superior rooms which are suitable for more modest budgets as well."
