Accommodation in Namibia Home / Namibia / Caprivi Strip

Susuwe Island Lodge | Namibia

[Namibia Hotels and Accommodation]
Susuwe Island Lodge lies in a wetlands position in the Caprivi strip bordering Botswana. Susuwe Island Lodge offers a glimpse of a wild and untouched part of Africa. The island lies in the remote Kwando River that nourishes delicate ecosystems and sustains varied game and birdlife. The lodge, with its spacious lounge, library and dining areas, incorporates the riverine forest - the main complex has lofty canopy viewing decks overlooking glistening lily-studded wetlands and ancient Kalahari woodlands.

Six spacious thatched suites each have a double bathroom, bedroom, lounge and wooden viewing deck with private plunge pool so that you can merge unhurriedly with Africa's hazy days and star-studded nights. Day and night game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles could include vast herds of roaming elephant and buffalo, lion, hippo, leopard, sable, roan and lechwe.

Mari stayed at Susuwe Island Lodge on her honeymoon:
"Susuwe Island lodge is situated in the pristine wilderness of the Bwabwata National Park in North Easten Namibia. On arrival you are taken across the lagoon by a small boat and you arrive at the lodge tucked under ancient trees, Immediately you feel that this is definitely something special - from the three-tiered viewing deck under the canopy of Magosteen to the hand crafted doors that opens to the spacious luxury suites! Each of the suites has a lounge, it's own private deck and plunge pool where the honeymoon couple was treated to a private deck dinner after an early evening game drive. Under the stars and by flickering candlelight we were served deep fried brie with a tomato relish as a starter, the main course was-Fillet of beef with a mustard sauce and baby vegetables and for dessert a brandy snap basket filled with a white chocolate mouse for the perfect end to a beautiful day at Suwsuwe Island Lodge!

It is private, intimate and a definite must for anybody seeking a special hideaway. All activities are also arranged according to guest's preference and time. The Kwando River is a permanent water source, which nourishes delicate ecosystems, and the area boasts abundant and varied game and bird life."
