Cape Heritage Hotel is in a historic city area on the edge of Cape Town’s historic Malay (Bo-Kaap) quarter. The Cape Heritage Hotel offers its guests the chance to relive history whilst enjoying modern international standards of service and accommodation. Originally an 18th century townhouse, it’s full of character and charm with wide wooden floorboards, lovely hallways, solid oak doors and large sash windows. All 15 rooms are individually decorated and the superior rooms & suites are particularly special with Cape antiques and original features. (Please note that some of these are quite heavy in style given the original workmanship and architecture of the building.) All have king-size beds, spacious bathrooms with bath and shower, air-conditioning, satellite TV, DVD players and minibar. The Hotel’s sitting rooms are light, airy and supremely comfortable. As an integral part of Heritage Square, you have direct access from the hotel to a vibrant community of six restaurants, wine merchants, art galleries, jewellers and fine craft and fashion shops. Many of these are located around the 18th century courtyard, which features the oldest known vine in South Africa. Please note that there's no swimming pool. TGCSA 4 star hotel.

Coleen stayed here in October: "Another personal favourite of mine as it is unusual to find such a friendly and historic boutique hotel in the middle of Cape Town’s city centre. It is part of Heritage Square which means that it is surrounded by interesting restaurants, boutique shops and wine bars thus you don’t need to travel far to enjoy good food and good shopping. As befits a historic building, all the rooms are slightly different. A couple of the standard rooms are a little dark but they offer good value for money. The superior rooms are larger with some period touches whilst the suites are ecletic and unusual, great for romantics. The owner, Nick Garsten, is obsessed with sound proofing which I think is no bad thing and so all the windows have sound proofing – sometimes double sash windows in the case of the historic rooms. However I think another plus point for this hotel is the down to earth friendliness of all the staff. Recommended."
