Kate and Maddy stayed there in May:
"We liked this lodge. It is less in the mountains than Catherdral Peak but still with beautiful views of the Amphitheatre and still with daily guided walks from the lodge. The chalets are the smartest accommodation in the 'berg with separate sitting room with fireplace and terrace. Extra touches include dressing gowns, fruit basket, minibar stocked to your requirements. The walks from the lodge tend to be less arduous and I took one of the shorter ones to a waterfall which was beautiful, well maintained and well-marked. There are also horse trails for beginners and intermediate. Keen walkers are well-catered for in the area with the Tugela Gorge walk starting about 20 minutes away and of course the Amphitheatre walk accessed from Qwa Qwa. (This would also make a great scenic drive as well). They also do visits with a staff member to the nearby village where guests can go into the clinic, visit the school and meet the people. The guide goes with guests in their car so it is an inexpensive trip – currently R150 to R200 for the guide. (Two hours)

Their daughter and son-in law run an Activity centre (with flying trapezes, abseiling, high walks, giant trampolines where you go 20ft in the area etc etc) which is great both for team-building and anyone who enjoys having fun. Unusually it is open to hotel guests even 2 people and you can pay per activity (approx. R50-R75) – this would be great fun for kids."
