Kaya Mawa is built on a crescent shaped beach on Lake Malawi, surrounded by baobab trees and mangos on the tip of the remote Likoma Island. Built by hand in conjunction with the local community, Kaya Mawa consists of seven stone, teak and thatched cottages and a honeymoon house on its own private island, reached by boat. Each has a giant 4-poster bed, en suite loo with a view, shower and sunken stone bath. Explore the lake and its shores, looking out for otters, take an excursion to remote spots where wild dog and even a leopard have been spotted on the beach! The 'town' is a 45-minute walk from the lodge and you gain an insight into traditional island life as you stroll to the amazing Chipyela Cathedral and the cobbled market square. Water-skiing, wake boarding, fishing, windsurfing, dinghy sailing are also on offer.
