Chief's Camp | Botswana

[Botswana Hotels and Accommodation]
Chief's Camp in the Okavango Delta is part of the exclusive Mombo concession in Moremi game reserve, an area of unsurpassed predator sightings with a breeding pack of wild dog nearby, plenty of lion, cheetah and leopard and white rhino too. The lodge is tucked under a shady grove of trees, overlooking a seasonally flooded plain. Twelve luxurious and secluded tented 'bush pavillions' offer some of the finest accommodation in Botswana - spacious, light and airy, with polished wooden floors, private viewing decks with hammock, ceiling fans, minibar and smart bathrooms with indoor and outdoor bathrooms. The raised pool deck is used for starlit dining and daytime game spotting. Game activities are land-based, with mokoro excursions mid-July to mid-September.

Coleen and Lize stayed at Chiefs in April:
"We can see why this is a more luxurious camp. It just has that little bit more than the other camps we visited.

The tented rooms are huge. The bathroom is an actual fixed structure within the tent, with separate loo, double vanity and shower. Each has a private game viewing deck.

The main areas are huge, stylish and colourful, with inviting couches.
This is not a permanent water camp and thus we only did 4x4 game drives. However we had the privelege to experience the first water entering the delta - the joy of the animals and rangers was amazing. The water fills the delta by covering almost 4km a day.
Our game viewing was excellent, with herds of buffalo, zebras, lechwe, impala and tsessebe at the waters edge. Of course, a big pride of lion was lurking, just out of sight! Even though you are not allowed to have night drives at this camp, it is not really an issue. Your game drive starts at about 16:30 in the afternoon and you are back at the main lodge roundabout 19:00. This gives you time to freshen up for dinner, have drinks and enjoy a longish dinner. If you spend time at other lodges in the Delta (where night drives are on offer) this 'relaxed' evening is much appreciated!"
